General
Q. Can I use a non Aiphone power supply for Aiphone products?
A. No, we have seen issues with non Aiphone power supplies including unit failure and noise.

Q. How come there is noise in the call?
A. There can be a variety of reasons for noise but main reasons are having AC power lines, radios, TV set, rotating motors such as fans or dimmer switches near units or wires. Also, check for proper earthing as well as if an Aiphone power supply is being used.

Q. I forgot the master code, how do I reset it?

GT Series
Q. I have replaced/added a tenant station (GT-1D, GT-1A, GT-1M-L, GT-1C, GT-2C) onto a system by wiring it up and powering it. I tried calling the unit but it still does not work. Do I need to program the unit?
A. Yes, any unit that is added newly to the system must be programmed in. Refer to the GT Installation Manual and program the tenant station. This can be either handshake or dip switch programmed but it depends on how it was done in the first place so that must be confirmed first by checking if there are any dip switch settings on the back of other units.

Q. Is GF/GH compatible with GT?
A. Please refer to following compatibility chart
GF, GH, GT Compatibility Chart
GF GH GT Compatiblity Replacement Guide
GH-GT Compatibility

Q. How do I program a GT system?
A. There are two methods: Handshake and Dip switch. Do not use both methods in one system.
Handshake Method
For audio only systems or GT-1M-L, the handshake method must be used and the simplified steps are the
following (recommended programming with 2 or more people):
1) Enter all resident info either directly on the entrance station or by using the GT System Setup Tool with PC connected to the entrance station
(If using GTW-LC lift control, resident info MUST be entered using the GT System Setup Tool and through the GT-BCX first and exporting the data onto the entrance stations). This step is not needed if the entrance station does not have the GT-10K keypad.
2) Get into programming mode on the entrance station
3) Go up to a tenant station and get into communication with the entrance station either by picking up the hand set or pressing talk
4) Select the resident info to allocate the connection to the tenant station in communication either by pressing the number on the keypad and call or if no keypad, the button that you wish to allocate it to.
5) Press talk again or hang up the handset on the tenant station to end communication with entrance
6) Exit programming on the entrance station
7) Try calling the tenant using the number or button allocated to test
8) Get into programming mode on the entrance station
9) Repeat steps 3 to 5 to keep registering tenant stations
10) When registration of all tenants are complete and tested, export the settings onto the entrance stations and security guard stations if there are any. This can be done using the entrance station/security guard station or by using the GT System Setup Tool to import settings into the PC and export it into other stations

Dip switch Method (must use GT System Setup Tool)
GT-1C, GT-2C, GT-1C-L and GT-2C-L can be dip switch programmed.
It is the recommended method as it can be easily pre-programmed.
1) On each tenant station, allocate unique resident ID using the dip switches on the back of the units.
Please refer to dip switch setting matrix for details.
2) Enter all resident info (and lift control information if using GTW-LC) in the GT System Setup Tool with PC connected to the entrance station via USB (USB Type B cable included with any unit that can be connected to PC)
3) Export settings of the GT System Setup Tool onto the entrance stations (and GT-BCX if lift control is being used) with Link Data.

Q. I have forgotten or the previous installer has not left the ID code to change the settings of a GT system
A. For security purposes, we do not publicize this information. Please contact Aiphone Tech Support on 02 8036 4507 (Option 3).

Q. Can more than 48 tenants be connected on a standard GT system?
A. Yes, however only if the tenants stations comprise of GT-1D or GT-1M-L. Up to 100 can be connected but please still be aware of wiring distance limitations

Q. What does the message “IN USE” mean when I try to put the entrance station into programming mode?
A. Entrance station ID’s need to be set on each entrance station if multiple entrance stations are being used. Please check dip switch settings of each entrance station for duplicate IDs. Also make sure to recycle power after changing entrance station IDs as they do not register until next reboot. Refer to the GT Installation Manual for details.

Q. What does the message “NO ENTRY” mean when I try to call a resident?
A. The number is not registered in the Resident Info settings. Refer to the GT Installation Manual and enter the resident information that is required.

Q. What does the message “DENIED” mean when I try to call a resident?
A. Resident information is registered but no tenant station is linked with the number in the entrance station. (no link data) Refer to the GT Installation Manual and program the tenant station.

Q. How can I initialize the entrance stations to start programming anew?
A. For security purposes, we do not publicize this information. Please contact Aiphone Tech Support on 02 8036 4507 (Option 3).

Q. Can I upload a custom image on the GT-DM? How about a video?
A. Custom images can be uploaded onto a GT-DM but no videos.
1. Create a bitmap (320 x 240 pixels) picture and use the ImageEnc.exe file in the CR-ROM Tool folder to convert the picture to an aip file (*.aip).
2. On GT Setup Tool, select Upload Picture menu under Connection
3. Click on Select Mode, choose the .aip image that was converted and click Upload

JP Series
Q. Can I seal the door station to block the water out?
A. No, the sealing will actually keep the water from going out as well and may also result in water/fog on the lens cover

JMJP-Compatibility-Chart.pdf

Q. Can I do hands free with the JP?
A. Yes, please purchase the JPEC Embellisher for handset.

IS Series
Q. I have forgotten the IP address of an IS unit (IS-IPMV, IS-IPDV, IS-IPC etc.) and I need to reset the IP
A. For security purposes, we do not publicize this information. Please contact Aiphone Tech Support on 02 8036 4507 (Option 3).

IX Series
Q. Is the IX Mobile App free? What do I need to use it?
A. The IX Mobile App itself is free to download on App Store(iOS) or Google Play(Android) but at least one IX-MV and RY-IP44 + PS-1225 for every 8 mobile apps is required in a system.

Q. Can the IX Series transfer calls?
A. Yes, however, a delayed transfer can only be executed once so multiple delayed transfers are not possible. Using a combination of absent, delayed and scheduled transfer maybe able to provide a work around. Calls can be transferred on from IX-MV to IX Mobile app as well.

Q. Is the IX Series dual stream? (can the intercom work while displaying and recording on VMS/NVR through ONVIF)
A. Yes, the IX system can stream 24/7 video onto a VMS/NVR while maintaining its intercom operation.

Q. Can the door be release from the master station instead of the door station for security purposes?
A. Yes, it can. An IP Relay (RY-IP44) is also available to enable door release from a location other than the near the door station or master station.

JF Series
Q. Are all JF units discontinued?
A. No, the JF-1 units are discontinued but JF-2 units and JF door stations are still available. JF-1 and JF-2 systems use the same door stations so even if a door station fails in a discontinued JF-1 system, the door stations are still available so a whole system replacement is not required.

Q. Are JF units compatible with the JB system?
A. There is some compatibility between JB and JF. For details, please refer to JF-JB Compatibility

Q. I have connected a second door station for the JF-2MED but it is not working. Do I need to program it?
A. Yes, the second door station must be programmed. In the setting screen (press and hold MENU/MEMO button for 3secs and select language), scroll down to SET DOOR 2 and select the camera icon if using JF-DA, JF-DV or JF-DVF. Select the audio intercom icon if using JF-D. Please refer to JF-2MED Instructions for details.
